Cubs “Officially” Sign Concepcion

The deal for Gerardo Concepcion was announced in early February, now it’s official.  The Cubs have agreed to a five-year major league contract with the 20-year-old Cuban prospect.  The delay in officially signing Concepcion can be pinned on Concepcion establishing free agency, contract language, and physicals.  Concepcion will now report to the minor league camp instead of the big league camp to get in shape, and Hoyer said that there is a good chance that he will see some Spring action near the end of camp.  The contract details are as follows, Concepcion is guaranteed $6 million in the deal. There is a $3 million signing bonus with the other $3 million spread out over the length of the contract, which is five-year.
