The Cubs continue their pursuit of their first series win of 2012 as they welcome the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals to town. The Cubs didn’t fare to well in St. Louis earlier this year losing 2 out of 3 to the Cards after a rather promising start to that series. Look for the Cubs to try to find some stability with their lineup now that Byrd has been shipped out-of-town. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Steve Clevenger steal some starts away from Geovany Soto, he has earned it, and Sveum might as well ride the hot hand. Full preview after the jump, Go Cubs!
Maybe a return home to the “friendly” confines will do the Cubs some good. Of course, I also suggested that a road trip might be good for them as well, it wasn’t, something has to be, right? Big series here for the Cubs. they are very close to living up to the adage of you can’t win the division in April, but you can lose it. If the Cubs fall any farther into the hole, they are going to have a really hard time getting back into the race. The time is now for the Cubs to at least take 2 out of 3 this weekend. I’m sure they can, but they are going to need deep starts from their starters as that has been something that has been lacking recently. Full preview after the jump.
