5/16: Around the Cubs Minor League System

Here is the recap of the Cubs minor league system from 5/16/12, enjoy.

Tennessee and Iowa were off.

Peoria fell just short of winning their sixth straight game on Wednesday night as they built a 3-0 lead only to lose 5-4 to Clinton.  Ryan Cuneo was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBI’s.  The other standout at the plate for the Chiefs was Wes Darvill who was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Michael Jensen pitched well but didn’t get any help from his defense as he went five innings giving up four runs, but none of those were earned.

Daytona can’t seem avoid the rain drops as they were rained out on Tuesday which resulted in a double-header Wednesday.  Well, it was supposed to be a double-header but the rain got Daytona again as they settled for just one game.  They made the most of it as they beat Brevard County 6-2 in 8 innings.  Matt Szczur stayed hot as he went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.  Nelson Perez was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored, he is now hitting .313 on the season.  Matt Loosen pitched great but had to settle for a no decision, he went 5 and 2/3rds of an inning while only allowing one run on one hit.

This is why Daytona was rained out. RUN AWAY!
