FULL BOX SCORE

Don’t look now, but the Daytona Cubs are starting to play some good baseball.  The trend continued Tuesday night as the D-Cubs used an 8 run 3rd inning to smash the Stone Crabs 12-4.  Every starter had at least one hit for Daytona with four guys registering multi-hit games.  Rubi Silva had a big day at the plate going 2-for-6 with a home run and three RBI’s, he’s now hitting .315 on the season.  Matt Loosen seemed to relax with all that run support as he turned in a nice outing going five innings to earn his first win of the season.

FULL BOX SCORE

It was a night of missed opportunity for the Smokies as they had 10 hits but only three runs and left 12 guys on base in a 6-3 loss to Birmingham.  Trey McNutt went three innings while giving up four runs, three earned on five hits as he took the loss to drop to 0-3 on the season.  Jae-Hoon Ha, Luis Flores, and James Adduci all recorded mult-hit games with Flores collecting three.  Justin Bour was the only offense as he blasted his 5th home run of the season in the fourth inning.

FULL BOX SCORE

The I-Cubs must have been tired of playing in 1-0 games so they decided to break out the bats in a big way against Fresno.  Iowa pounded out 15 hits and 13 runs en route to a 13-2 shellacking of the Fresno Grizzles.  Anthony Rizzo was the star of the show as he almost always is as he went 2-for-6 with two home runs and six RBI’s.  Josh Vitters also had himself a day going 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and 4 RBI’s.  Chris Rusin took that run support and ran with it as he turned in six solid innings of one run ball to earn his third win of the season.  It’s a fun box score for sure, go check it out.

FULL BOX SCORE

The Chiefs used a three run outburst in the 7th inning to come from behind and beat Kane County 4-3.  Rafael Lopez and Oliver Zapata each had two hits on the night, both scoring runs as well.  Pin-Chieh Chen was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double.  Both teams benefited from shaky defense as each team committed two errors, subsequently both teams gave up two unearned runs.  Jose Rosario settled for a no decision after scattering 10 hits in 5 and 2/3rds of an inning.  Austin Reed and Jeffery Lorick were stellar out of the pen and a big reason the Chiefs won the game.

FULL BOX SCORE

Rubi Silva continues to tear the cover off the ball as he went 2-for-4, with a walk, a home run, and an RBI, he is now hitting .330 on the season.  Nelson Perez, and Arismendy Alcantara each had two hits on the night, Perez had a home run and two RBI’s, while Alcantara had a home run and three RBI’s.  Hayden Simpson was outstanding out of the bullpen going four scoreless innings to earn the victory as Daytona fought back from an early 3-0 hole to beat Clearwater 6-5.

***

FULL BOX SCORE

Justin Bour had a solid night at the plate going 1-for-4 with a walk, a home run, and three RBI’s.  Most of the Smokies had hits, unfortunately not enough of them were strung together and they fell 7-4 to Montgomery.  The Smokies fell behind 6-0 early as Trey McNutt didn’t get any help from his defense.  It’s really the first game where McNutt has struggled, he last 2 and 2/3rds of an inning, giving up 5 runs, however only two were earned.  Jae-Hoon Ha had two hits, including a double and an RBI.

***

FULL BOX SCORE

Really tough loss for Iowa as they watched a 6-2 lead evaporate in a 7-6 loss to Memphis.  Dave Sappelt had a solid night at the plate going 2-for-3 with two walks, a double and an RBI.  Josh Vitters and Blake Lalli both went deep in the losing effort for Iowa.  Chris Rusin seemed to right the ship after a tough start, but was beat up in the 7th where Memphis plated three runs to tie the game at 6.  Anthony Rizzo made his 6th error of the season which led to one unearned run for Rusin.
